You seem to have trouble reading. It says ONE of the best looking games ever, not THE best looking game ever. And if you've played the game, you'd conclude that Gears of War 2 most certainly is one of the best looking games ever.
Why don't people understand that giving a game 10/10 doesn't that the game is perfect?
I've got Gears of War 2 and I'd give it 10/10, even though I think the final boss (if you can call it a boss) sucks, one of the vehicle sections is frustrating and the matchmaking system is currently a joke.
What do companies want most out of their game? Lots of sales, which leads to lots of money. With that in mind, Gears of War 2 will sell more than LBP and MGS4, without a doubt.
I'm sure Epic aren't going to cry over being beaten by LBP and MGS4 by 1 and 2 Metacritic points. Although, the Xbots might.
Oh, and Resistance 2 is a much bigger letdown than Gears of War 2 (which isn't a letdown in the slightest). Yes, I actually don't want to bring Resistance 2 up. But ...
Yes, on Metacritic. But if you've played both, you would realise how incredibly stupid that statement is. Even if you didn't mean it in terms of their actual quality.
This is an occasion where you disregard the review scores and say that Gears of War 2 is definitely better than its predecessor.
The same applies for Fallout 3 and Oblivion (Fallout 3 is essentially Oblivion's spiritual successor).
AAA, as far as I'm aware, simply stands for 'Triple A'. Now, that basically just means that the game is of the highest quality.

I guess I can't really agree or disagree with the campaign criticisms, seeing as I haven't played it. This seems to be a common trend though when it comes to Resistance 2 reviews.
I've been playing Gears of War 2 for a few days now, and I'm absolutely blown away. Everything is just so incredible.
It's one of the best, if not the best, games I've ever played.
Anyway, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone. All I will say is that the campaign is a lot better than I expected. It's really well thought out and one of the best single player campaigns I've ever played.
Multiplayer is as you'd expect - astonishingly fun, and even more intense with the 5 vs. 5. I know that doesn't seem like a lot when compared to something like Resistance, but the online games are really epic (excuse the pun).

Mine came early! I've been playing it all day. It's one of the best games I've ever played - campaign and online are both awesome.

I have to admit, that was a very well written review. The reviwer has hit the nail on the head - why drastically change something when it was superb to begin with?
Why are people getting so agitated about some reviewer stating their opinion. They're allowed to say that Gears of War 2 is better. In fact, their opinion is more valid than anyone one of us because they've actually played both games.
So, he thinks Gears of War 2 is better. A lot of people will think the same. A lot of people will also disagree with that.
